The New England Patriots equaled their longest winning run from the Tom Brady era as they defeated AFC East opponents the New York Jets by 13 points in professional football
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson shone brightly with three scores as the Patriots notched an eight-game winning streak for the initial occasion since iconic QB Brady's last year with the franchise in the 2019 season
Quarterback Maye accumulated 281 passing yards and a score, completing 25 passes from 34 throws
The triumph extends the Patriots advantage at the top of the AFC East as they moved to a 9-2 record, with the New York at the foot after dropping to two victories and eight defeats
The visitors had scored first at Gillette Stadium with quarterback Fields scoring a five-yard touchdown to finish the New York's initial series
But the Patriots answered in the second quarter as Henderson rushed for two short rushing scores before the ball carrier caught a pass from Drake Maye at the rear of the endzone midway through the third quarter to push the score to 21 to 7
"That was a key occasion for him stepping up, and it's been great for him to keep earning playing time," the quarterback said of Henderson. "He desires to be great."
Fields connected with Metchie toward the end of the third quarter to close the gap for the visitors but Andy Borregales kicked a two field goals in the fourth quarter as the home side closed out the win
